ABOUT

Linda Barnes aims  to evoke an awareness of our common humanity. A powerful authenticity and sense of life pervade her work. She captures energy and emotions through expressive brushwork, use of colour and composition. The darkness in life is depicted honestly, a sense of unease is apparent in some paintings.

Linda's art celebrates the human form, and the play of light. Sometimes her figures encompass her love of dance, theatre and costume.

Linda's Art is her main focus now (after working  as  Creative Director of a successful graphic design business). She has exhibited in many solo and group exhibitions,  and conducted workshops in Hong Kong and (her native) New Zealand. She was a finalist in the Hong Kong Human Rights Art Award 2013, and a Hong Kong finalist in the Cliftons Art Prize 2017. She held her third solo show in Hong Kong, The Dance, in 2019, and is remounting it in 2020 in Christchurch,

New Zealand.
